Political stability and economic development in Africa are intrinsically linked to the quality of its Institutional Justice. The dialogue between Mozambican national courts and bodies such as the SADC Tribunal and the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights is fundamental to ensuring a safe environment for investment.
Mozambique, as a signatory to several regional protocols, is at the forefront of creating a solid economic and legal block in Southern Africa.
Challenges for Justice on the Continent:
- Judicial Independence: Ensuring that Law prevails over momentary political interests.
- Access to Justice: Using technology to bring Law to remote regions of the country.
- Regional Harmonization: Creating common rules that facilitate trade and the free movement of people.
- Rights Protection: Implementing effective defense mechanisms against abuses of power.
SD&MP actively participates in debates on the modernization of Public Law. We believe that strong justice is the best insurance against economic instability, and we advise our clients based on this long-term institutional vision.
